The Return

Towards the end of 2004, Team Ecosse was formally resurrected as a NASCAR Racing 2003 team, with a view to participating in the V8Thunder league.

2005

The Winter 2005 Season

For its debut season in NR2003, the team started out with three drivers: team-owner Strang drove one of two Lites cars, the other was driven by former IAF1GPC teammate Dryden. The Trucks effort was headed up by a newcomer to the team - Ewan Lawson - with Strang and Dryden supporting. As the season progressed, V8Thunder veteran Neil Marlow joined the team and raced in both Lites and Trucks.

Team Ecosse's debut season as an oval operation was successful, especially in Lites. Strang finished the season as runner-up in the Drivers' Championship, while the team secured the Team Championship. Dryden, meanwhile, finished 8th, with Marlow 14th following a part-time season.

The Summer 2005 Season

Prior to the start of the Summer 2005 season, Team Ecosse signed two new drivers - Nick Bradshaw and David West. The season wasn't as successful as its debut season, with the team narrowly missing out on retaining the Lites Team Championship, beaten by rivals Speedworx. West was the highest placed driver in the Drivers' Championship, finishing 5th overall. Marlow, Bradshaw and Dryden finished 6th, 10th and 11th, respectively.

In Inters, Strang had the occasional good result on his way to an encouraging 5th in the Drivers' Championship, a far better position than he had been expecting. Bradshaw, West and Lawson finished 15th, 17th and 24th, respectively.

The Autumn 2005 Season

Sweden's Peter Andersson was the only new face to join the team for the Autumn 2005 season, but hopes were high that the team would return to winning ways in Lites. Then Team Motorhead joined the series and things suddenly began to look tough. Andersson had a brilliant season, however, and pushed Marc van Brakel all the way to the title, finishing runner-up. Neil Marlow had an admirably clean season, scoring no penalty points and securing a Gold Gentleman Racer Award on his way to third overall. Persistent connection problems put an end to any hopes West had of a strong season, but he was able to win two races, his first for the team. Dryden and West finished the season 7th and 11th, respectively. Like Andersson, the team also finished as runners-up, for the second season running.

Despite starting the season with a susprise pole position, Strang was unable to show his form from the previous Inters season, and eventually withdrew from the series, thoroughly disheartened. West, too, was unable to complete the full season and certainly wasn't helped by not having a teammate when he did race. Unsurprisingly, both drivers finished the season outside the Top 10.

2006

The Winter 2006 Season

This was the season when Team Ecosse finally returned to winning ways in Lites. Having endured a difficult Autumn 2005 season, West turned up a different man for this season, taking him just two races to win his first race. Andersson, however, already had a win to his name at this point, and the team's intentions were clear for all to see. In a dominant season, the team secured sixteen poles and eighteen wins. The majority went to West, who became the team's first ever drivers' champion. Andersson finished 3rd, with Marlow 7th and Dryden 12th. A lack of real competition meant that the team walked away with the team title, putting an end to two seasons of disappointment.

After over a season without competing in Trucks, several members of the team dabbled in the series. Although no spectacular results were achieved, this would lead to a full Trucks season to come.

A full squad entered the Inters championship, with Strang, West, Andersson and new-signing Paul Charman all signed up. Leading driver was Strang, racing with renewed enthusiasm. His reward was a 4th place championship finish, his best yet. West, Charman and Andersson finished 12th, 15th and 23rd, respectively. The team, too, had a good season, finishing 3rd behind vMax.SR and SRD Speedworx Racing.

The Summer 2006 Season

Two drivers joined the team for the Summer 2006 season - Steve Smith and Ian Newman - both winners of Gentleman Racer Awards the previous season.

With last season's Lites champion West leaving the series and Andersson only doing occasional races, it was always going to be tough to match the success of the Winter 2006 season. And an influx of quality new drivers, in particular at R5RT, made things even tougher. Smith was the main hope for the team, and he did his best to keep Tom Aldrich honest at the top of the standings. In runner-up position going into the final race, Smith was very unfortunate to be pipped at the post by Yosh Hughes by a single point. Newman finished a solid 6th overall, while Marlow and Andersson were 20th and 25th, respectively. Andersson delivered the team's only win with a great from-the-back win at Daytona.

For the first time ever, the team entered the Trucks championship with the aim of completing a full season. Doing so under the Williams Truck Racing banner with beautifully painted Williams-themed trucks, the team was led by Smith, with Andersson, Strang and West helping out when possible. Smith had an exceptional season, finishing the season in an incredible 5th position. Just as impressive was his total of zero penalty points, which led to him receiving the Gold Gentleman Racer Award. And, at Lowe's, Smith also secured the team's first ever Top 5 in Trucks. It was a remarkable season, especially considering Smith was also challenging for the Lites title at the same time.

The Inters season started well, but things drifted away towards the end of the season. As in the Autumn 2005 season, West was hampered by persistent connection problems. And, as in the Autumn 2005 season, Strang was hampered by motivation problems resulting from accidents in other series. West finished 9th overall, but it could have been so much better. Marlow and Smith made their Inters debuts during the season, with Smith securing two Top 5 finished from his three starts. Despite a disappointing season individually, the team were runners-up to SRD Speedworx Racing, the best result yet in the series.

Strang entered the Trophy series with the intention of doing more than just the usual one or two races. A strong start to the season saw the team-boss as high as 3rd in the standings, but a nightmare race at Richmond put an end to that, and to his season as well. Although he later returned for the all-green race at Las Vegas, the damage had been done and Strang finished the season 9th overall. West made his Trophy debut during the season, and finished a creditable 2nd at EuroSpeedway.
